LEECH WOMAN

HAVING JUST SIGNED TO MARTIN ATKINS "INVISIBLE" LABEL AND THEIR

FIRST EP CURRENTLY BEING MIXED IN CHICAGO THE UNCOMPROMISING

LEECH WOMAN’S CONSISTENT LIVE APPEARANCES ARE FINALLY BEGINNING

TO REAP DIVIDENDS

How did Leech Woman form?

LW: A group of cybertronic particles Congealed themselves together and that was it, the rest is history really!

Where does the name come from?

LW: Two words Leech and Woman, and you put them together. Don't put them

the wrong way round though or you get Woman Leech.

Describe your sound to anyone who's never heard of you?

LW: Loud, noisy grrrrr bang bang, Complicated, why describe it why not just listen.

We understand that you are now signed to a label what, have you recorded

that's available?

LW: Ummm! Fear & Bullets is on the Fucking Hardfloor CD, Legions is available

on the Last House on The Left compilation CD. We recorded Fear & Bullets,

Legion and Spit along with TK421 and Sea Shepherd for release on a five track EP

called 33 Degrees to be released in mid-October on Invisible.

How are your tracks constructed and in what order?

LW: we programme everything onto a really bad drum machine and link it up to

everything that’s really expensive and good and then choose the noises we like,

take it away, play it, then decide what we are going to play over the top of it.

What about live? Do you enjoy playing live?

LW: Yes we enjoy it very much, we love it.

You have a strong visual image on Stage and a very bizarre percussion set up

how do you work this?

LW: We don't, someone else does and plugs it in and points it in the right

direction. Nah! really it just happened we just wanted to give people a really good

show, like you do! We used to just hit things and we thought that sounds good can

it fit in the van, can it fit on stage. There will be more to come when we get a

bigger van and bigger stages.

Do you have any preferences relating to where you play?

LW; The best ones I have done so far are the LA2 and Underworld, big and

spacious although the Underworld has that Stupid pillar in the middle of the dance

floor and the middle of the stage, they also had a drum monitor that was bigger

than us, bigger than a fucking house.

You are playing large venues and the club circuit in the UK, what about abroad?

LW: If someone tells us where to fucking go and gives us the cash to go there.

We've got the contacts but we don't have the money. But the answer is yes we

definitely plan to. Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, America, Japan (laughs!), yes

we are planning to play Japan and if there's anyone out there who would like to

fund us we'd love to play Japan, all those bright lights oooh Bladerunner and play

Easter Island. Sega came from Japan, their games are fucking amazing.

What is your opinion on the current industrial live scene in the UK?

LW: What industrial scene, that would be more the question. Very minimal to say

the least, there are the outstanding bands and the mediocre ones, the only

outstanding ones are the ones who hit lumps of metal live on stage rather than just

sampling it off someone else and having some wanky little kid just pressing a key

on the keyboard.

What music do you listen to?

LW: Beethoven, Gabba, Headbutt, Prodigy, Throbbing Gristle, Ultraviolence,

Nana Miskouri.

What about films and books?

LW: Bladerunner, Star Wars, Deadringers, Eraserhead, Congo (that's fucking

ace!), any Jackie Chan movie, Garth Ellis, Rhaold Dahl cause he's mad, Alan

Moore, lan Banks.

Do you have any influences?

LW Films, TV, Books, Black & Decker, Rolf Harris (more laughs!), definitely Rolf

Harris, lots of extreme noise, mad music and conspiracy theories. Fortean Times

Throbbing Gristle etc...

What are your steps toward the future?

LW Left foot forward, followed by the right, nah! right foot forward and forward

by the left. We don't plan for the future it just happens...the future plans to meet

us.

What's the most essential listening track you've released?

LW: Ova, Bodyhammer, any one you like.

Where can you get a good curry in the East End then?

LW: Why do you want to go to the East End? It's full of 'cor blimey, cockney

gangster type chappies', they're all wankers. We have no idea where to get a good

curry in the East End, down Brick Lane way, there’s loads down there and there's

one on the same side as the 24 hour bagel shop with a green front....we don't

care, we hate the East End

How would you most like Leech Woman to be remembered?

LW: Giving people headaches, running a pirate radio station in people's minds....
